Tired of sitting in front of your computer all day? It’s time to get face-to-face with your nonprofit tech friends! NetSquared Local members meet monthly in 50 cities around the world with the goal of helping each other solve their tech challenges and finding a tribe of people who shares our passions.
Bored this weekend? Saturday, June 1 is the National Day of Civic Hacking and Net2 organizers in Honolulu, Boston and New Haven are jumping into the fray! If you aren’t a hacker but still want an in-depth experience join North Carolina’s Tech4Good group for their annual conference June 6–7 or visit lovely Vancouver, Canada for their NetSquared Camp unconference on June 1.
Chad Leaman of Vancouver’s Net Tuesday challenged us to become “Geeks for Good” at his local PechaKucha. In 20 slides he tells us how modern conveniences, unconventional user interfaces, and unique innovations have been used in the past and present to help people with disabilities carry on with their lives.
Coolest Thing of the Week
We’re so proud and excited that Amy Sample Ward, former NetSquared manager and TechSoup staffer has just been promoted to the role of NTEN’S CEO.
Many of us worked closely with Amy as she helped build the NetSquared program and I’m not the only one who has been inspired by her infectious energy and strategic insight. Send her some tweet love at @Amyrsward.
