Kia ora everyone

Here are a couple of notices about things coming up and some plans for the future. Take a look and let us know what you think. Bill and I are always keen to hear from NetSquared Wellington members about what you'd like to talk or learn about. We hope to see you soon.

NetSquared Wellington co-organiser

We’re very luck to have two professional filmmakers from Useful Media coming to the next meetup to help us tell better stories. Vanessa Patea and Ruth Korver have experience producing content for web, documentaries, feature films, short films and music videos, and they're coming to share their secrets.

This will be a practical session: by the time you leave you’ll have a grasp of that it will to set you apart from the rest. Come along to learn some video making basics using the tools you've got at hand (eg mobile phone, or digital camera).

Quick, quality, and possibly quirky, video meet up, 12.15-1,45pm, Tues 12 September. RSVP: http://meetu.ps/3bXCH7

This year NetSquared Wellington is promoting the global 2017 Storymakers contest. Create a compelling story using moving image or digital . Maybe this will be the spur for your organisation to put some of it’s stories down in pixels. The content opens 5 September, with entries due 31 October. It'd be great to see some Wellington entries.

Set your email newsletter on fire (more details coming), Tuesday 10 October
Facebook pixels and other hidden treasures, xx November (to be confirmed)

Ever found yourself struggling to juggle writing posts, responding to errant comments, cutting and dicing images, exploring new features, trialling new platforms,  and keeping count to decide if it is all worth it. There is a lot to stay on top of when it comes to social media.

To thrive in the social media world NetSquared Wellington is investigating hosting some training early in 2018. Rather than wait for someone to offer a course, we will go out and invite a trainer in. If this is something you’d be interested in helping to shape, please  get in touch with Stephen.
