After a January hiatus, it’s time to get things going with SFTech4Good for 2014.

First, the group is now over 2,500 members strong! This is just awesome!

Hope to see you at an SFTech4Good event soon.  There are events lined up for this month, March, and April. As soon as I lock down locations for the March and April events, I’ll announce them to the group.  If you know of any offices or spaces that would be open to hosting us for an event, please let me know. Also, keep your fingers crossed as free space is in high demand in San Francisco. :)

Hopefully, you’ve gotten your spot for the February 11th event: Storytelling for Social Good with Burt Herman, co-founder of Storify.

During this event Burt Herman, co-founder of Storify will walk us through how to tell great stories using Storify and share examples of what individuals and organizations are doing on the site.

Oakland’s first Startup Weekend Hackathon will take place next weekend February 7, 2014 - February 9, 2014. The underlying theme is “Black Male Achievement” and challenges participants to solve a critical social impacting problem over the weekend that could produce a viable business.
This groundbreaking event presents the question “can we create a Silicon Valley that lives up to Dr. King’s dream”.  The hackathon and closing reception will bring together community members, business leaders, government, technologists, marketing professionals, creatives, youth, parents, entrepreneurs and investors to collaborate, build, share and support innovative solutions to aid communities worldwide.
