Thank you for your eager participation and support in 2016! October marked our 1-year anniversary since Karen, Joe and I revamped the group. That got us thinking about what the group has accomplished since the October 2015 meeting at the ACLU. Here is a recap of the last year:
12 Meetups (8 content-driven presentations, 4 social events)
1,442 total members, up from 556 in October 2015
100 active members, up from 14 in October 2015
Joe moved to Chicago, and Anne-Marie joined us as a co-organizer.
LA Tech4Good participated in Innovate LA, a county-wide celebration of innovation and creativity in the region, with our 'Can We Measure Social Impact' event at WeWork in October.
All in all, 2016 was a great year for the group. We are very excited about what lies ahead for LA Tech4Good in 2017. Here are the topics we are planning for:
Muslims in Tech
WordPress for non-profits
Technology use in the local activism scene
Data visualization with Tableau Public
YouTube for non-profits
LinkedIn for non-profits
Animation on a budget
We are also planning a few themed social events, so stay tuned for those. Check out the group's tentative calendar of events for specifics.
In order to make these events come to life, we need your help. Do you have expertise in any of these topics? Do you know someone who would make a great speaker? Can you help promote the events on social media? Email the organizers through the Meetup page if you'd like to help.
Happy Holidays to all. May the new year bring each of us love, friendships, adventures, challenges and success.
