Baltimore Innovation Week: A Week of Low-Cost & Free Technology Training

Baltimore Innovation Week is a ten-day celebration of technology and innovation in Baltimore, happening in late September. This week of events is intended to grow the impact of this innovative region through programming focused on technology, collaboration, and improving Baltimore. You and your nonprofit and social enterprise colleagues should check out the events.

Tech & Social Change is sponsoring two events:

  • Using Technology To Advocate, Build Communities, and Fulfill Your Organization’s Mission(9/20 at 8:30 am)
    A half-day session where Baltimore-area nonprofit organizations and social enterprises will discuss what they've done with social media and new technologies and talk about what has and hasn't worked for them. The small fee covers the cost of providing breakfast and lunch.
  • Homelessness, Technology & Youth (9/26 at 3:00 pm)
    This panel will talk about how technology is used by youth who are homeless and begin a conversation about how service providers and other can use technology to better serve these youth.

  • SocEnt Breakfast (9/18 at 7:30 am)
    A morning event that encourages idea sharing, resource exchange, and relationship building among Baltimore’s social entrepreneurs, nonprofit and civic leaders, community advocates, grant-makers, and social investors.
  • WordCamp Baltimore (9/21 at 9:00 am)
    If your organization has a website built on WordPress, send someone to this event. Not only will you get great information, but you'll have the chance to meet local WordPress developers, who might be willing to answer questions or provide guidance about problems you have or projects you want to try.
  • Women In Tech Summit (9/22 at 1:00 pm)
    A half-day event dedicated to bringing women in the region together to learn, share, and network. There will be panel discussions as well as two hands-on introductory workshops, one on WordPress and one on JavaScript.
  • Hack the Parks Demo Day (9/24 at 10:00 am)
    Join Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the Mayor’s Office of IT, Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, and for a demonstration of the six projects funded through the Hack the Parks program. The grant recipients are excited to share their summer of progress with all of Baltimore.
  • Bridging The Digital Literacy Gap Among Generations (9/24 at 11:00 am)
    Join a discussion to help bridge digital literacy gaps between the generations led Jen Lee Reeves, AARP’s Manager of Social Communications and Training.
  • When Advocacy Goes Digital, The World Of Online Organizing (9/30 at 9:30 am)
    The Robert W. Deutsch Foundation invites you to participate in an exploration of the rapidly growing world of online organizing and digital campaigns.
