Katrin Verclas coordinates the secretariat of MobileActive, a global network of activists and campaigners using mobile phones for civic action and engagement. MobileActive is a project of the Green Media Toolshed.

Mobiles have been used around the world to ensure impartial elections through monitoring, mobilize massive collective action to free political prisoners, and advance public health strategies.

Am doing research on how improved learning can be improved in the distance education mode in a developing country where there is limited access to Internet. Most developing countries have now a good mobile/cellular infrastructure as well as national television. These tools are used as part of the education delivery tools. Laboratory tests show promising results and now a project is underway to field test the system in Bangladesh.
