The Vodafone Americas Foundation is accepting applications for the second annual Vodafone Wireless Innovation Project, a competition to identify and reward the most promising advances in wireless related technologies, which can be used to solve critical problems around the globe. Proposals will be accepted through February 1, 2010, with the final winners announced on April 19, 2010 at the annual Global Philanthropy Forum in Redwood City, CA.

The Social Innovation Camp Central and Eastern Europe (SICCEE) brings together talented software developers/designers and social innovators from the non-profit, commercial and public sector. Over the course of 48 hours, teams will build effective web-based solutions to real social problems.  But, they need to make sure those teams have all the geek-power they can!

The June #4Change chat topic focused on Challenges/Competitions for Social Change. Early on in that online chat, the request emerged for a compendium or other list of “all” the Challenges and Competitions focused on social benefit. Such an overview would let those interested in participating or facilitating a competition review the full landscape of options, characteristics of each, and so on.

The N2Y4 Mobile Challenge called for innovative mobile applications supporting social good.  There were many excellent ideas (check out the Project Gallery!) and the top 15 Featured Projects were selected through a Community Vote.
