Involver: How Nonprofits Can Create Video Campaigns for Social Networks.
Sponsored by the March of Dimes, Share is an online community for families of infants who were born prematurely or spent time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Members are encouraged to participate in online discussions, meet other families and build support for each other. Share has over 7400 registered members and is one of the most powerful web-based social support sites for NICU families available.
Visitors can browse a lively discussion forum, member blogs with photos, and even step into a virtual "SHARE Cafe" where members "just hang out" and enjoy casual conversation. Registerd members can easily create their own blogs, submit short stories, and discuss "Parent to Parent" concerns. A separate "Get Involved" section of the website allows visitors and registered members to learn and participate in various activities ranging from advocacy campaigns to local fundraisers and events.
An interview with the project's set-up team member and ongoing community host Nancy White is also available here.
