wikiSCHAP

Challenges Entered:
Open Sourcing Poverty Alleviation

wikiSCHAP will be revolutionary in the domain of International Program Development.  It will be an online, open-source collaborative platform that will allow us to consolidate the wisdom and experience of community development practitioners all over the world.  One of the greatest challenges to international poverty alleviation stems from the lack of information that is actually available to practitioners in addressing common problems requiring some type of sustainable assistance and planning. Presently, every one organization, or even individual project practitioners, has the resources and answers to certain aspects of poverty alleviation specific to their experience. However, the roots of global poverty are complex and intermingled.  Serious progress cannot be made unless practitioners have easy and direct access to a central location of information related to International Poverty Alleviation.  wikiSCHAP will be the tracks needed to the railroad system.  Those tracks would then connect stations with one another.

wikiSCHAP will host every disadvantage that we, as a human population, would run across in the field.  Such as: water contamination, water access, community sanitation problems, challenges to economic development, various diseases, challenges to food production and food processing, gender inequalities, lack of electricity, and the list goes on.  These critical areas of world challenges would all be represented in a central informational hub that would be available to direct access to anyone around the world.  In addition, solutions that have been proven along with general information, supporting organization, potential funding sources, practical application guides, video tutorials, supplementary reading, diagnostics, treatments, manuals, pdf’s, links to blogs of other practitioners and their contact information who are working in the same field and even exhortations as to how the average American can get involved.

A large focus within wikiSCHAP would be to train individuals to become practitioners in the world of International Program Development.  Our objective on the domestic side is to open up SCHAP chapters all across the country that recruit and train aspiring philanthropist to become qualified community development facilitators.  On the international side, our objective is to begin to dispatch trained community development facilitators to South America, West Africa, South Africa, South East Asia, and many other areas of the developing world to initiate projects and pave the way for others to further establish and expand the work they have began.

We are confident that with the appropriate resources, SCHAP will have committed community development facilitators dispatched regularly to expand our projects through the developing world.  SCHAP well also make an extremely significant impact in countless humanitarian causes as practitioners and organizations will have limitless access to our database.  Most important, our proven in-field video training tutorials, schematics of proven appropriate technologies, and step-by-step training manuals would remove much of the barriers to entry and assist in the learning curves of many individuals and organizations.  Our comprehensive community development school will become to community development work what wikipedia is to the encyclopedia.

SCHAP believes that the impact could only be understood with the imagination.

I heard about this project -- wikiSCHAP sounds amazing. In fact a few friends from school, San Diego State University, were talking about how they had a chance to intern and work with SCHAP.  Some even had a chance to go abroad to Kenya, Africa.  Area called West Kaydem (spelling?!?!).  Checked out SCHAP's website and they have close to 10 development programs
