SLEEP IN FOR THE HOMELESS

Challenges Entered:
END HOMELESSNESS

SLEEP-IN FOR THE HOMELESS
OCTOBER 8 (Friday Overnight)
6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
PITTSBURGH, PA
CITY COUNTY BUILDING - 414 Grant Street, Pgh. PA 15219

The Sleep-In for the Homeless raises awareness and funds for approximately 1,500 people facing homelessness in Allegheny County that Community Human Services (CHS) supports each year.

On any given night, approximately 2,468 individuals are homeless according to a 2010 point-in-time survey conducted by Allegheny County's Department of Human Services.

Similar to a charity walk or run, participants sleep-out overnight at the City-County building in downtown Pittsburgh donating a minimum of $25 in pledges given by family and friends in support of their experience.

All funds raised are dedicated to housing, providing healthcare, feeding, and clothing people facing homelessness in Allegheny County. In addition to meeting basic needs, CHS moves people into long-term stable housing and services as quickly as possible.

At CHS we believe that no one should be without help and hope when faced with crisis and despair. We ask that you join with us so people facing housing crisis can be helped in the year ahead.
