NetSquared Local events provide a chance to connect locally with all those interested in the intersection of social technologies and social change. There are new groups forming every week: Join in!
1. Set up a free (or low cost) National SMS shortcode for notification of Births and child illnesses /treatment.
2. Integrate Microsoft Dynamics CRM built around this SMS shortcode notification (& the the Microsoft SMS Server Toolkit) into existing health based or helpline based NGOs or government based helplines structures. Microsoft Dynamics CRM may need to be extended to link in with Microsoft SMS Server Toolkit and also for the functionality described in points 4 to 8 below.
3. Start a marketing campaign to ensure everyone understands the code by using public radio messages, bulk sms, sponsered messages on please call me SMSs (where available) and free media / word of mouth / shared phone content.
4. Upon receiving a notification of a birth a health worker will call the notifying cellphone regarding the birth. The health worker will assess what needs to be done and who the case should be refered to and what action is required in accordance with national requirements.
5. The helpline health worker will also open a case file within MS Dynamics for the birth which should include an ID and various other demographic and personal information as well as cell numbers of up to 5 relations. The notifier and relations will also be sent the number for this case file and be told about how to send update SMS's.
6. Utilise MS Dynamics automatic scheduling facility tied into Microsoft SMS Server to send out reminders regarding immunisation and other important health messages.
7. There should be specific codes that people can send if a child is sick - then a health care worker can provide advice, referrals etc..These will be imported / flagged in MS Dynamics.
8. There should be specific codes that should be sent when a child receives medical treatment / immunisations and so on - if codes are not sent when expected then these can be followed up.
This project could also be be linked to Millenium Goal 5 around antenatal care.
