Below are the projects that identified a need for marketing/media expertise:
  • Expertise on outreach and promotion to help us reach industries, NGOs, farmer organizations that (want to) contribute to have producers of agricultural products to become more sustainable entrepreneurs.

    Needed By:

    Farmers in developing countries can become more efficient and market oriented when they learn from experiences of themselves and their colleagues. Our tool will provide them with the means to learn by comparison.

  • HELP NABUUR BECOME VIRAL
    - How can pulling in many new users be made fun and rewarding for the online volunteers?
    - How to connect NABUUR to online social networks
    - An easy, fun and rewarding way to make digital stories

    Needed By:

    NABUUR is an internet platform where villages in developing countries get direct assistance. Online volunteers help create whatever is needed in 150 villages now, and with your help in 10,000 villages soon: a societal revolution in the making!

  • We need PR/advertising help reaching out to mainstream youth audiences to promote our unique Social Network for Social Good. Globally, our site is in 12 languages - expertise in reaching those language media would be a huge benefit to our growth.

    Needed By:

    What if youth everywhere came together to inspire each other, get informed about social issues, and involved in their communities? TakingITGlobal evolved from this idea to a Social Network for Social Good, inspiring youth to create a better world.

  • NEAR TERM: Develop collateral materials to market our new website. In-kind gifts for printing, mailing. ONGOING: Identify strategies to increase site visibility. Corporate sponsors for advertising to help drive traffic to our site.

    Needed By:

    Stop Family Violence will use Web 2.0 technologies to empower local programs, enhance information sharing, help people find the services they need, promote local leadership, and coordinate activism that will keep women and children safe.

  • I just returned from the American Telemedicine Association conference in Nashville. We (HELP) are at the leading edge of international telemedicine. Many telemedicine resources from around the globe want to take part in this network. It can save many thousands of lives and greatly reduce suffering in some of the toughest places on earth.

    This combined with what is unfortunately the very innovative concept of providing complete accountability to our donors, makes this (we believe) a very interesting news story.

    Our focus is to find foundation, corporate and private support for modest operational overhead. Again, this will enable us to place 100% of funds collected during public appeals directly into the relief projects in the field. No big deductions for big salaries, private jets, or other phoophoo. Just getting the job right with no smoke and mirrors.

    Additionally, my background was originally in broadcasting. Having been a news director and talk show host for a decade, I believe I know what it takes to be a good interview.

    Needed By:

    A telemedicine-based on-line community of physicians, financial donors and emergency personnel bringing advanced medical assistance to disaster zones and areas of chronic humanitarian need around the world.

  •  

    The Maps 2.0 team would benefit from assistance in e-marketing and outreach to the nonprofit community and building communities of practice within the three sectors: humanitarian, community nonprofit, and civic engagement. Media and strategic marketing support would also be valuable!

    Needed By:

    Maps 2.0, a collaboration already under way, will launch the first online resource for nonprofit and humanitarian organizations to share best practices in geographic information systems (GIS) and digital mapping tools.

  • We need to assess our outreach & messaging. Aside from our blog, we're not being intentional about our community building. We need to better assess and meet the needs of our users.

    Needed By:

    The Social Source Commons helps nonprofits find appropriate software to support their work, and share knowledge about tools. It is the only venue on the net striving to build a complete inventory of what software is available for nonprofit needs.

  • We could use more help building buzz for our work, such as a truly effective, grassroots marketing and public relations campaign.

    Needed By:

    We are to Google, AOL and YouTube what public television is to the big networks. We are a nonprofit, fully open source and open standards, dedicated to creating the next Firefox of web video.

  • We need help in creating Web 2.0 features that are visually compelling, simple to use, and engaging for a wide range of stakeholders. We are looking for innovative ways to tell the individual stories of our Web 2.0 ambassadors to a larger audience.

    Needed By:

    Marries power of Web 2.0 with passion of 950+ African orgs in our network. Savvy Web 2.0 Ambassadors will collaborate through the Kabissa site and face to face to develop and promote homegrown strategies for employing Web 2.0 for social change.

  • I think that if I could link up with someone with marketing expertise, this would help us in promoting the sites effectively.

    Needed By:

    African producers depend on middlemen to access outside markets and, as a result, earn very little from their labor. This project will roll out country-specific social networking sites to give African producers direct access to outside markets.

  • We will need specific support in marketing to key communities such as students and youth, who will be key players in expanding our user-base.

    Needed By:

    WiserEarth is an international directory and networking forum that maps, links and empowers the largest movement in the world–-the hundreds of thousands of organizations within civil society that address social justice and the environment.

  • We currently offer a complete guide to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) available at seo.grassroots.org. Alongside this service, we also offer free telephone consulting, made possible through in-kind donations from an SEO consulting firm.

    We'd love to expand the SEO project to cover other aspects of internet marketing for nonprofits (how to use blogs, leverage social networking sites or bookmarking sites, use new media, etc to further a nonprofit organization's mission). Assistance could be in the form of expert articles or guides, telephone or online consulting, or something entirely different. Surprise us.

    Needed By:

    The Grassroots.org Toolbox will empower nonprofit organizations by granting free access to a suite of fully configured & hosted online tools, including content management, online event registration software, and CRM.

  • We want to create as much visibility as possible for the social innovators we work with and the niche online media properties we create. We have a marketing plan, but we would love the input of an online marketing/buzz creating genius.

    Needed By:

    This decade, the impacts of leading social entrepreneurs will explode. It's the world's most important story, and Innovatorz.org will tell it. We produce and distribute killer online media for award winning social entrepreneurs.

  • As part of our strategic planning process we need to develop a communications plan that addresses branding, media outreach, search engine access, and many other key needs to help build web traffic, newsletter subscriptions, and regular use.

    Needed By:

    FamilyFarmed.org is a revolutionary system connecting consumers and trade buyers with a network of organic farmers and artisanal food producers. Consumers meet their farmers and re-establish connections with their food, community, and the land.
