To widen access to electronic databases by use of GSM phones by facilitating remote access to a computer network through a GSM phone and creating an Information retrieval system capable of responding to queries based on the Short Messaging Service (SMS) protocol of the GSM system. !-- @page { size: 8.5in 11in; margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->
Building value added networks out of the existing GSM networks would bridge the digital divide between those people who have access to computer networks and those who do not, but have access to GSM networks. This would give them the capability of accessing the much needed data and information that has been aggregated by various Nigerian service organisations and other computer based networks without necessarily owning a computer or having direct access to these networks via a computer system.
METHODOLOGY
A SIM*-card-enabled interface device would be used to create a gateway between a computer network and a GSM phone network.
A message formatting standard that will facilitate easy interaction between incoming SMS messages and the databases on the computer network will be developed.
Relevant instructions that can transform these formatted messages into SQL statements would be developed to enable the computer system interpret the incoming messages as valid query prompts for the computer database.
A system that will format the results of the database queries based on the SMS protocol will be developed.

You used a lot of jargon
My brother, you need to go home, sit down and do more home work. When you are in a public domain, you need to use simple terms which everybody would easily understand. That would not belie your expertise but would rather showcase to readiness to share knowledge.I voted for you all the same.

Go Home?
Yeah, thanks for the tip...as it turns out, I've been doing a lot of that. It does wonders for clearing things up. However, some people understand the jargon and don't mind someone being excited or typing as they're thinking. Public or not, if you knew me, it would make sense. Thank you for the vote, nonetheless! I have learned that I need practice making things sound good for the benefit of others....or not.
