Wrap-Up

So the past hour or so has been a meeting and melding of minds, as geeks of all stripes gathered in small groups to hammer through projects together. Seth got newbies blogging, there was a group talking about Tagging to Save the World, the Drupal geeks gathered to do their thing (this happens all over the world, every time more than two of them get together), some folks Mashed Up some maps, others talked about Microformats (I finally found out what those are), some people got initiated into the Cult of Second Life (I checked it out but my feelings about video games run deep. I'm sorry.), Rolf demonstrated the new Melt social networking tool for climate change action, and I can't remember what else. There was more! Much more!

Now we're all sitting here as Marnie thanks all the fabulous people who made this conference possible – there were a lot of them. THANKS TEAM!

Report-Outs

Moving along to what to do with all the video – send your suggestions to NetSquared@linktv.org! They've got big plans.

Check out the work of the blog group:

Mash-ups group: http://dougherty.ning.com – something to do with a database in the sky

Tag group: looking for Tag-vocates who are willing to adopt a particular tag for their sector and promote it and then they will tag-regate things as demonstration projects for the tag world. There is an affinity group at nten.org – didn't catch what it was called?

Second Life: Some people signed up, and someone from the BBC is going to work with NetSquared to produce an online event. It's not a joke, it's a real online community! Come to the NetSquared office in there!

Microformats: much microformat geekery was had. H-stuff.

Drupal geeks: split into two groups – more and less geeky. Zach led a failed attempt to integrate the Flickr API but he blames Flickr. ;)

Kaliya (IdentityWoman) wants to issue a challenge to all the nonprofit tech people. Can we work towards interoperability amongst ourselves, first, so that then we can support others to do the same?

Accessibility Working Group: assessed and worked on a site together.

The End! Therein concludes the learning, noodling, networking and FUN that was NetSquared Conference 2006!
