A bit about me...

For someone who blogs a bunch and spends all her time on various Drupal sites, I was strangely nervous about getting around to this post. :)

My name is Sarah Pullman, and I wear a few hats these days. I am the conference coordinator and website manager for Web of Change (we just launched the site today, so if it's not a beautiful red-themed site when you visit, check back tomorrow), a fabulous inspiring social change technology conference up in BC in September. I am also the Online Community Manager for the DeSmogBlog, a site that exists to "blow off the PR pollution that clouds climate science." We expose all the unethical PR out there that's trying to confuse the public into believing that there actually is still a scientific debate about climate change. When I'm not doing those two things, I teach a bit of yoga, and work on my growing Yoga for Geeks idea (site desperately in need of some themeing love).

I'm looking forward to meeting lots of great people at NetSquared, getting fresh new ideas for my projects, and generally just being immersed in my two favorite topics these days – social web technology, and social change. See you all there!

I've heard such great things about web of change

I'm sure you'll recognize some names from our attendee list. And even from the NetSquared team.

Thanks for the introduction, Sarah. And for the pointer to your website.  I'd love to know more abuot what you are hoping to get from the conference.  Is there anyone you particularly want to meet?  Any think you particularly want to learn about?

too many things

Hey Marnie, thanks for the note. :) I think my main mission at the conference is to head-hunt you for our conference. (just kidding... though you really should come!)

I'm eager to learn more about managing workflows, actually... tips of the trade on how to stay on top of all the new stuff and not totally lose your mind in it all. And I'm eager to meet people engaged in climate change work, and anyone who has had experience as the "manager" of an interactive online community or site.

General, I know... Basically I'm just happy to show up and soak it all up. See you soon!

Too many things indeed.

(I so want to come to the web of change. It may not be possible for me this year. If not, it'll certainly be on the calendar for next year.)

Have you had a chance to look through the attendee list?  You might find some of the folks working in the areas that interest you.  Ruby Sinreich (intro) has a lot of good thoughts to bring to the online community management table. As does TechSoup's own Susan Tenby.  Both would be great folks for you to meet.

As for workflow, Sonny Cloward (who's going to be at the conference) did a nice blog post a while back on his workflow and toolbox

Mmm, yoga

Actually, I met Sarah very briefly at the closing reception of the NTC this year.  But we didn't get to talk with each other.

I was just dropping in here on her intro thread to see if she would like to lead some yoga for us this week?

I also hope to come to Web of Change someday soon, but many stars have to align properly...

perhaps

Ruby – I would have loved to, but the organizers felt that it would be hard, logistically, with the way the rooms are set up. Maybe we can get a small crew out on the grass at Cisco on lunch, or something. Who knows. ;)
