Introduced to Net Sqaured Website

Introduced to Net Squared by Leo  Romero Idealist.org (Silicon Valley) Startup meeting.

Openned up an account for DisabledCommunity.Org Project.

Not real clear what I am getting into because documentation on Net Squared pages are not real clear.

It might be a good idea to have them list other non profits that have projects listed on their site from their main page, so that others interested in learning about NetSquared can quickly look to see what others are creating.

I will hold off on giving suggestions until I learn more.

Net2 Case Studies

Hi Lori,

Thanks for your feedback.  Clearly we need to work on our web site (:

In regards to your suggestion, "list other non profits that have projects listed on their site from their main page" you might want to check out these case studies of nonprofits using the social web for social change.

Mission of Net Squared

Okay, I just learned more about Net Squared.  If you go from Home page and click on  the "About" section you can learn about Net Squared's Mission and how to get additional assistance from them.

This page includes my edits of the "About" page as of 1/31/07 for more concise reading. (Suggestion 1)

Net Squared's mission is to spur responsible adoption of online social web tools (such as blogs, wikis, podcasts, and RSS feeds) by non profits to help them build strategic capacity, knowledge and skills needed to put these powerful new online tools to work achieving positive changes (collaborate, share information and mobilize support).

Nonprofits need Net2 to be more effective and to have allow non profits to have a bigger impact on society.

We hope to catalyze the catalyzers with new tools and the culture shift in order to engender conversations among the early adopters (who often don't know of each other),between early and later adopters, between nonprofits and technology developers, between nonprofits and the growing army of technology helpers, and between all of the foregoing and the major technology companies (who have so much to gain from this dialogue in terms of marketing and realizing technology's social potential).

Net Squared plans to help organizations in 3 ways:

  • Virtually through the NetSquared.org online community we can provide organizations a venue for learning skills, sharing experiences and developing expertise.
  • In person at monthly Net Tuesday meetings where Net2 members and friends gather and can share real world expiences
  • and en masse at the NetSquared Annual Conference (May 29 and 30, 2007 in San Jose, CA) to bring together nonprofits, tech practitioners, innovators, philanthropists and visionaries.
