Well, I made to Johannesburg! It was a looooong flight - around 15.5 hours, not including the hour we sat on the tarmac. Has anyone travelled to Dulles lately? I forgot about the StarWars like "mobile lounges" they use to transport passengers to and from terminals, gates, and DIRECTLY TO THE PLANE. They packed everyone in it reminded me of New York subways!
I am just about to leave in a small plane for about a 45 minute plane-ride to Manzini, Swaziland. I am curious to meet the other passengers on the plane - and I am looking forward to the reunion with my former student, and now Advisory Board member, Sabelo Dlamini who will be picking me up from the airport! I have not seen him for a while - I think we will look a little different than the very resourceful 13-year-old from ten years ago! He really has accomplished so much and I am really looking forward to seeing and catching up with him again.
I am feeling pretty good considering how little I slept on the plane and the time change. I think it is all the excitement! Johannesburg feels like almost any other airport I've been to, excpet I hear quite a bit more Zulu. I even tried a bit to see how it would work and surprised a worker in security - and myself!- at how easily it came out!
Swaziland - here I come!!
