Flickr and ICT Education Projects

Global Teenager Project (GTP), over the years, has aimed at bringing together students from all over the world in a safe and secure environment to engage in exchanges that promote inter-cultural awareness. It has also focused on improving the quality of education by introducing schools to exciting new applications of ICTs. A number of activities fall under the Global Teenager Project on an annual basis; chat sessions, pilot projects with other organisations.

GTP Zambia uses the flickr plugin on its website (www.globalteenager-zm.org). By using Flickr to host our photos we have realised that it helps direct traffic to our website and it also helps give a quick preview of our photos by rotating through them. It also helps reduce the amount of storage space to be taken if the images were hosted by our server.

These are some of the issues that Not-for-profit organisations should consider using Flickr because it help generate traffic, reduce on bandwidth and storage.
