Net2 Think Tank: Apps for Good

Innovation in the world of mobile applications has been moving at lightning speed and based on the popularity of the iPhone and Android, and increasingly the iPad, it seems that applications are the way forward on mobile computing. In the early days of mobile applications, much of the appeal was in mobile gaming and social media, but as the market becomes increasingly crowded, the Apps become increasingly sophisticated. Today, there are many applications that are working solely to help promote social good or to help vulnerable people in some way. This month's Net2 Think Tank asks: which mobile applications most successfully use technology for social good?

This month's Net2ThinkTank was inspired by Rachel Weidinger's SXSW chat on Handheld Awesome Detectors. Thanks Rachel!

Topic:

Which mobile applications most successfully use technology for social good? What are the Apps that have either helped you to do good, or have the potential to help others do good? Have you created an amazing application that will help others in some way? What are the characteristics that make a good "good" app? Feel free to share a long list, or choose one application to focus on... and feel free to pitch your own work!

Deadline:  Saturday, April 24th

Looks like a great concept and you're working hard to execute it well!

I'd love if you'd add a short description and link to the Apps for Good Round-up so we can have a lost of all of the great applications and resources for applications like yours all listed in the same place. Feel free to request feedback and ideas from the community as well.
