Be NetSquared: Year 3
Want a N2Y3 recap? View attendee blogs, vlogs and comments at Be NetSquared.
The ISN is our working codename for a project focused on understanding, illustrating and powering community innovation on the web.
This year's Mashup Challenge encourages social innovators to share their mission's vision via a Mashup Challenge Application. Check-out our Mashup Challenge announcement page for details.
While social innovators submit their ideas over the coming month, well be working with friends and partners at technology firms around the world to encourage product managers and engineers to participate, and help develop some of these ideas into actual Mashup applications.
In addition to involving employees and developer networks, we invite technology companies interested in contributing in-kind products and services to NetSquared projects.
If we’re successful this year, we’ll learn more about how distributed projects on the web are developed, find more people like us, and use the end-product (case-studies of actual Mashups that have been developed) to serve as a gallery of Social Innovation Mashups that citizens, schools, and community-based groups everywhere can learn from, replicate, and build upon.
But ultimately, our vision is turn this process into a platform that enables communities of innovation around the world while we're sleeping in San Francisco. A marketplace, sorta like ebay, where ideas and resources can be exchanged to produce actual stuff that helps to accelerate community-based activities forward.
Interested in joining us? Jump in!
1. Bring the people and groups you care about into this work -- the community groups working on social issues -- have them submit an application to the mashup challenge here
2. Take a look at the Mashup Gallery . Contribute your feedback in the comments section. If you really, really like a project, go ahead and give 'em a star. Let them know about existing tools that might help them move their work forward.
3. Wanna go deeper? Adopt-a-project! Help the project build a specification, and mashup. We're still working on the form we're using for volunteer contributors, but in the meantime, just email Billy Bicket billy@compumentor.org. Let him know what you're interested in working on. He'll be in touch, shortly.
